Chamber Music Series Continues for Third Season

Kinston: A third chamber music series featuring opera and classical instruments has been announced by the Lenoir County Historical Association, sponsor of the organization’s Harmony Hall Players concerts.

 

Sept. 17: Soprano Jon Ward Shaw and Baritone John Kramar will offer an “opera sampler” featuring works by composers such as Puccini, Mozart and Verdi.

 

Kramer, a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, is currently on the voice faculty of East Carolina University’s  (ECU) School of Music where he is the director of the ECU Opera Theatre. He has an extensive background in opera performance. Ms. Shaw, a graduate of Duke University and ECU, with studies at Ohio State University, has an extensive background as a soloist and opera performance in works such as La Boheme, Carmen, the Magic Flute and many others.

Ms. Shaw and Mr. Kramar will be accompanied by John O’Brien, co-director of the ECU Opera Theatre and professor of accompanying at ECU’s School of Music. He is also artistic director of the Harmony Hall Players concert series.

Oct. 8: Harpist Ellen H. Foster, an Eastman School of Music cum laude graduate in Harp Performance and Music Education, will perform on the harp in the second concert of the 2006-2007 series. A resident of Alpharetta, GA, she has performed with the Atlanta, Macon, Columbus, Savannah, Greenville and Huntsville symphonies.

Feb. 18, 2007:  Harpsichord artist Brenda Bruce.

The concerts will be presented at 2:30 pm on each date cited, and will be held at Harmony Hall, 109 E. King Street in Kinston. Due to limited seating, reservations are suggested by calling 252-522-0421. Admission, payable at the door, is $7.50 per person. Email address: harmonyhall@ncisp.net.
